Soth Australian Premier Mike Rann notify s Thursday night's attack on him at a function in Adelaide is typical of ill-feeling towards politicians from some members of the public.

Police have charged 55-year-feeble Richard Phillips of Burnside with assault.

He is due to appear in court on December 7.

Mr Rann notify s he has been attacked on two other occasions and will be taking advice from police about his security arrangements.

But he notify s he will not cease making public appearances.

"These things happen, I guess around Australia we see politicians acquire ting despise mail, we've seen politicians acquire ting threats, a whole range of things around the country, you know including internet defamation and a range of other things and unfortunately it seems to be a feature," he said.
